THE REVENANT
To compare the story of the movie to ONE of the eight basic stories learnt in class.
The Revenant is inspired by true events about the experiences of Hugh Glass and showing his surviving skills. The movie is directed by Alejandro G. Inarritu.
A frontiersman on a fur trading expedition in the 1820’s fights for survival after being mauled by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team . I realised that this movie is CANDIDE, which is one of the eight basic stories in story concept , is because oncept is about The innocent abroad, the optimism triumphant, the hero who cannot be kept down. The Revenant showing the determination of Hugh Glass to survive and revange for his son .
The Revenant takes place across the sweeping wayward wilds of 1820s Montana, a land of bitterly icy winds and waist-high snow drifts – not to mention highly protective mother bears and hard-bitten fur trappers with significantly less maternal instinct. It is across this unforgiving landscape which Leonardo DiCaprio’s Hugh Glass crawls, hobbles and stumbles in pursuit of Tom Hardy’s John Fitzgerald, a man as unmerciful as the country itself; Fitgerald killed Glass’ son and left our protagonist for dead in a shallow grave. Also on the hunt are a posse of Pawnee Native Americans led by Duane Howard’s Elk Dog, who seeks his kidnapped daughter Powaqa .
“I have no life, only living” proclaims Fitzgerald at one point, although perhaps even living is too strong a term – these men simply survive, day by day, hour by hour, through all the worst that an uncaring world can throw at them. From snowcapped peaks to raging rapids, boggy forests to windswept plains, Iñárritu brings before us a world where few of us would want to live – but for two and a half hours it’s a fine place to visit.
The story begin with a group of people went into a unsettled forest and hunt for pelts . During the journey , they were attacked by a group of Arikara native . Many of them die and only left some of them in the wildness . After that they decided to go back to their place . Suddently Hugh Glass was attack by a bear while he was scouting ahead. The bear hurt hug glass very bad after he shoot one gun toward the bear. In the end, hugh glass manage to kill the bear with his hidden hand knife but he still got badly injured and almost dead . After that, the party discover him and offer him treatment because they believe Hugh Glass is an important man due to his experience.
After Fitzgerald noticed that Hugh Glass badly injured , he starting to argue with the teammates to leave him behind due to his badly injured might drag the time for the others to go back to their place . So , when he and Hugh Glass was alone , he tried to kill Hugh Glass and noticed by Hugh Glass's son . Fitzgerald kill his son and that time Hugh Glass cannot do anything to save his own son 's life . After that , Fitzgerald leave Hugh Glass alone and go back to the captain as he think that Hgh Glass will not service in that condition . At last , Hugh Glass managed to save his own life and starting his revange journey .
At the end , Fitzgerald accidentally found out that Hugh Glass still alive . He afraid Hugh Glass come to take revange from him . So he steal all the money from fort's .After meet p with Hugh Glass , Captain Henry and he together to find Fitzgerald . After they split up , Fitzgerald kill captain Henry .
At last Hugh Glass found Fitzgerald . Both of them have a bloody fight. Glass is about to kill Fitzgerald but he remember what Hikuc had told him during his difficult time. So, he pushed him downstream into the hands of the arikara.
