PJCC, by Hijjas Kasturi Associates Sdn with Studio Nicoletti Associati

PJCC also called as The POD Exhibition Hall where located in Jalan PJS2, Petaling Jaya. It is the west part of the Kuala Lumpur, which is a great urban development and POD has been become as a landmark for this area. The POD is inspired by the water droplet and designed as a dynamic spherical form resulting in a primitive building archetype with a modern twist. It form a round and soft shape that enhance it to be stood up from the surrounding environment. The slithers of windows between the different widths and heights of the elliptical form able to bring the natural daylight into the spaces below.

The internally of this pavilion is divided into two parts which is the office area and the another zone serves for main showroom and sales gallery. The structure is fabricated from tubular steel members with the exterior skin made of spectrally reflective aluminium panels. Besides that, the skin colour shades of the pavilion will change depend on the reflection of the sun, it is dynamically.

For me, there is a kind sense of taste to the form of the pavilion, it looked like onion slices and the taste like chocked when someone took a big gulp. In architecture way, I will felt like there is something struggle inside or the spicy smell, which is reflect what inside the onion.

Interior of POD:

But actually it’s not what I thought, I feel it is designed quite amazing, by using the form of onion and creating a modern architecture. Even all the structure, they just using the basic modern style which are steel, glass and white colour. Furthermore, when I looked into the interior of the pavilion, it giving the feel like futurism, the curving ceiling, and how the lighting effect played between the ceilings. People who work inside the POD, they will be feel like working in the future, make they feel like proud for working at here and also increase the productive.

Interior of DPP:

According to my experience, the quality of interior space almost same as the DDP in Seoul, which designed by Zaha Hadid. Although both of them doesn’t have the same kind of skins and materials, but the interior design is almost same by using the curve shape to create a space. Meanwhile, people will feel curious how the things built up, and they will touch the structure to feel it.

Next, I think is the sense of ‘see’, which means like the visual. As what I mentioned at above, when people get into the pavilion, they will be see the very futurism design. From the both ends of the POD, it also provide a very picturesque landscape to look at. Some more the office spaces also overlooks a beautiful sculpture garden that filled with neatly manicured shrubberies. The combination of these elements that contributes to the Bioclimatic behaviour and the wellness of its inhabitants.
